On the first Tuesday of every month we will present a diverse range of voices, stories, and perspectives. From reflections on our evolving community to personal experiences and broader social change, each session offers a unique opportunity to engage with a different topic and a new guest speaker.

We invite you to slow down, listen and connect as we explore the people and ideas behind our region’s evolving story. Enjoy tea and coffee in the welcoming surroundings of Home Hill as we share conversations that illuminate Tasmania’s past, present and future.

While the fire may be virtual, the sense of warmth, connection, and shared experience is very real.

Wendy Shearer - Navigating Aged Care

Wendy’s long and rewarding nursing career has been shaped by her passion for caring for older people. From her early days working at Devon House in Latrobe to her current role as a Board Director at Meercroft Care, Wendy has gained a wealth of experience and insight into aged care.

Join us as Wendy shares her journey and gives us an informative look at aged care today — including costs, levels of care, eligibility, requirements and what families need to know when navigating the system.

Denise Fletcher – Unspoken

Denise will take us behind the scenes of her debut novel, Unspoken — a gripping story filled with intrigue, secrets and suspense. Drawing on her years of experience working in a variety of senior roles within a major political party, Denise brings a unique insight into the world of politics, power and the things that are sometimes best left unsaid.

Hear Denise talk about the inspiration behind Unspoken, her journey from politics to becoming a published author, and the experiences that helped shape her novel.

Tom Wootton - General Manager, Spirit of Tasmania

The Spirit of Tasmania is an essential part of life on the North-west Coast. 

Tom Wootton will join us for a fascinating conversation about his role as General Manager, the operation of the Spirit and the challenges and opportunities of running such an important service. He’ll share his insights into the future of the Spirit, our two new vessels, Tasmania’s visitor economy and the vital role the service plays in connecting Tasmania with the rest of Australia.
