Across four weekly sessions, these conversations will explore the theme of Change, bringing together a diverse range of voices, stories, and perspectives. From reflections on our evolving community to personal experiences and broader social change, each session offers a unique opportunity to engage with our heritage in meaningful ways.

We invite you to slow down, listen and connect as we explore the people and ideas behind our region’s evolving story. Enjoy tea and coffee in the welcoming surroundings of Home Hill as we share conversations that illuminate Tasmania’s past, present and future.

While the fire may be virtual, the sense of warmth, connection, and shared experience is very real.

From his early days as a junior clerk for Holymans, to leading major national transport operations, Chas’s story is one of determination, innovation, and deep local loyalty. His reflections offer a fascinating window into changing industries, changing opportunities, and the people who drive regional success.

Matthew Atkins – The Changing Face of Devonport
As General Manager of Devonport City Council, Matthew Atkins has played a pivotal role in guiding the city through a period of remarkable transformation. From the LIVING CITY strategy and the creation of the Waterfront Precinct to digital innovation and sustainable financial management, Matthew will discuss how strategic vision and community collaboration have reshaped Devonport’s identity and future.

Wendy Elsmore – End of Life Challenges and Comforts
Retired psychologist and current Committee Member of Dying with Dignity Tasmania, Wendy Elsmore brings a compassionate and insightful perspective to some of the most significant social changes of recent times. Her talk explores end-of-life choices, voluntary assisted dying, advance care planning, and the evolving ways Tasmanians navigate these deeply personal decisions.
