Franklin House is a beautifully restored Colonial home, built by former convict and successful businessman Britton Jones. This rare colonial building went on to accommodate one of the Colony’s leading private schools which operated from 1842 until 1866 and, in 1960, became the birthplace of the National Trust in Tasmania.

Discover Launceston's only house museum through a self-guided tour and take time to explore the lovely grounds, which include a Victorian Kitchen Garden and a 180 year old Oak tree where you can rest awhile. You may also enjoy some refreshments in the tea room..
