Franklin House is a beautifully restored colonial home, built by former convict and successful businessman Britton Jones. This rare colonial building operated as one of the colony’s leading private schools from 1842 until 1866. In 1960 Franklin House  became the birthplace of the National Trust in Tasmania. 

Discover Launceston's only house museum with a guided tour, wander through the grounds to the Victorian kitchen garden and rest under the 180 year old Oak tree. Our traditional Tea Rooms serve delicious light refreshments, and our retail shop sells gifts, bric-a-brac and souvenirs.
